THE RESULTS ARE IN!

Located in Washington, D.C.’s Mount Vernon neighborhood, RPM Italian is modern in approach and Italian in spirit and features a contemporary, chef-driven menu with dishes meant to be shared. The sister restaurant to RPM Italian and RPM Steak in Chicago, this location marks the third collaboration between partners R.J., Jerrod and Molly Melman, acclaimed chef Doug Psaltis, and celebrity couple Bill & Giuliana Rancic. Menu highlights include more than a dozen fresh pastas made in house daily, slow-roasted meats, wild fish and seafood, and celebrated Italian classics with an elevated twist. Signature RPM cocktails or any wine from the extensive list enhance the dining experience. RPM Italian’s chic space is set in tones of black, whites and grays and boasts rich woods and leathers, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a great meal, night out, or simply a late night bite.

Take a look at what the YELPERS are saying! For the most part, people loved the food!

We visited RPM and this is what we found:

We were greeted in a fast and courteous manner

The bar was bustling and “live” with a lot of chatter. “Why did we mention this”? We will come back to this.

The reception staff was impeccably suited and “clean”.

We were seated promptly.

The waiter was one of the most professional waiters of any I had experienced. He was knowledgeable, friendly, polite and informative.

THE FOOD

Publicity Mag ordered:

Tuscan Kale & Spinach – Pecorino, Lemon – $13

Mama DePandi’s Pomodoro – Parmesan, Genovese Basil $14

The guest ordered:

Lobster Caprese – Bualo Mozzarella, Basil – 19

Pappardelle Bolognese – Hand-Cut Pasta, Short Rib Ragù 20

Dessert:

ITALIAN CLASSICS
Sicilian Cannoli
Vanilla and Pistachio

ISSUES:

  • There were three adolescent boys about 10-12 RUNNING around the restaurant playing “tag”.  They were running into chairs and their parents were unapologetic. This really destroyed what was an enjoyable evening. To the point regarding the Chatter filled bar area; we could not hear any noise from the bar folks but we could hear the children playing and running from the bar
  • The Frequent Diner Club app did not work.
Located in: Chinatown DC

“This is hands down my husbands favorite restaurant in the city right now. He has taken a lot of clients and goes with friends frequently. I finally went with him when we escaped our young kiddos for a dinner and concert at the Capital One Arena.”

“Wow! Was in town for a conference & rpm came highly recommended. Was with a group of 7 and was offered the private room.  Was a but concerned we would not experience the full ambiance but it wound up perfect!”

Summa S., Columbus OH Yelper

“To start: Get calamari fritto. The fried veggies that come with the calamari are actually amazing. The calamari is also amazing, but the veggies that come with it are worth writing about.”

Grace S., Arlington VA & Washington DC Yelper

“Omg! This place was delicious! It’s a must must go.”

Rani G., Bloomfield Hills MI Yelper

“Great service! Lovely atmosphere very romantic and upscale. Small plates and pretty pricey. I wasn’t wowed by the taste of my buffalo mozzarella tortellini but I could tell it was fresh, I also wasn’t filled up after.”

Amber J., Washington DC Yelper

“I actually love the food at RPM, but as others have mentioned, the hostesses are the worst. There is one who is friendly and nice, but the others are super rude.”

Lia M., Washington DC Yelper

“You can smell the delicious cheese and bread while walking down the block towards the corner. The bakery section is situated on the corner while the cafe entrance is on Massachusetts Avenue.”
