British Rock band Queen is set to release a new album of unreleased ‘Freddie Mercury’ songs and will join Adam Lambert in a 24 date US Tour launching at Chicago’s United Center on June 19th and ending on July 20th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD (35 miles from Washington D.C.) The Queen “Once in a Lifetime Tour“ will also head to Sydney and Melbourne Australia in August.
In a BBC Radio radio interview with Wynne Evans of, Guitarist for Queen, Brian May discussed his new book, Diableries: Stereoscopic Adventures in Hell, centered around 18th century French stereoscopic cards or “French Devils from the 18th Century and his “addiction”/ obsession of the cards and their odd visions of Hell, Satires and Devils. According to May, plans for a new Queen album (currently untitled) featuring unreleased Freddie Mercury compilation vocals from the eighties are in the works as well as a sequel to the musical “We Will Rock You” .
Freddie Mercury, the band’s front man died of HIV/AIDS in 1991. His life is celebrated annually through the The Mercury Phoenix Trust, launched on September 5, 2010 with ‘Freddie For A Day’, a major annual initiative designed to celebrate Freddie’s life each year on his birthday and to support the on-going work of the Trust. The project encourages fans to dress as Freddie for a day and in doing so raise funds for MPT through sponsorship. Queen released their last album in 2010, named “Absolute Greatest“
