Philanthropy is a key stakeholder in the public interest. In today’s philanthropy market, there are several key dynamics to include:
- Capacity Building
- Charitable Giving
- Nonprofit Oversight and accountability
- Government Relations
As we navigate through these dynamics, we hope to highlight some of the key players in this sector . Foundations have been playing it safe over the past 5 years in terms of the implementation and marketing of fundraisers and galas. Ten years ago fundraisers were grand displays of wealth. Now, fundraisers are careful about spending and fundraiser budgets have decreased significantly. In a NBC Nightly News interview with Meeting and Event Planner Ivy K Pendleton, she says
It’s not the fact that corporations and nonprofits do not have the money to produce larger fundraisers and corporate events, they simply do not want to be perceived as misappropriating funds that can be used to promote a cause. As for corporations, they are partnering with the philanthropy sector to donate monies previously allocated for lavish holiday parties.
In recent reports, Nonprofit CEOs have been the target of media scrutiny where salaries have sometimes been more than the contribution to the causes.
