The Met Gala was co-chaired by Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Donatella Versace. “Controversial ” is a term that is often used to describe the Metropolitan Gala. The theme this year was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. And there were so many beautiful interpretations of the theme. Vets like Madonna, Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna and did not disappoint but the newcomers Blake Lively, Cardi B, Zendaya and SZA stole the show. It took 600 hours to make Blake Lively’s bejeweled gown. Priyanka Chopra wore a stunning cardinal red velvet Ralph Lauren gown that embraced her Hindu religion. “Jesus pieces” such as the CRUCIFIX, Veils, Mantillas, Cloaks and Capes adorned these party-goers. Even H&M weighed in on the event with a liquid Gold Gown that caught the paparazzi attention. Fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gautier, Balmain, Dolce & Gabanna, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Balenciaga and others took the stage and represented celebrities and socialites from around the Globe.
The men did not disappoint but we all KNOW that the Met Gala is all about the women.
Thought Leader Yara Shadhidi came draped in Chanel and her date was her mother, also draped in CHANEL.

Designed to create a dialogue between fashion and the masterworks of religious art in the museum’s holdings, the show will be presented in a trinity of locations: the Anna Wintour Costume Center, the medieval galleries at the Met’s Fifth Avenue location, and further uptown at the Cloisters. Central to the conversation will be the papal garb on loan from the Sistine Chapel sacristy, many of which have never been seen outside the Vatican, even in the 1983 Met blockbuster, “The Vatican Collections: The Papacy and Art.”
Rihanna is Met Gala Royalty. This is her 7th year in attendance.
