Our mission is simple: to help empower and improve the the lives of women, children and families… economically, emotionally and physically.
Washington DC News anchor, Shawn Yancy started her Girls’ Night Out events in 2010 as a way to help charities that promote the well being of women & children.
“The very first Girls’ Night Out happened in my dining room with a handful of my girlfriends. I came up with the idea of swapping the clothing we no longer wanted or could no longer fit, and whatever was left over, would be donated to charity.
The first year, we donated the clothes that weren’t swapped to a Liberian village. The second year, we donated the clothes to Dress For Success DC. Over the years, we’ve watched the event grow into the ultimate party with a purpose… with more than 300 women from all walks of life; including professionals, leaders, influencers and my closest girlfriends…”
– Shawn Yancy, G.N.O. Founder
G.N.O. by Shawn Yancy has collected and donated thousands of new and gently worn clothing for men, women and children. We’ve collected hundreds of toys for area kids for Christmas; and we’ve raised thousands of dollars for various local charities.
Our goal is to expand and raise more money each year, so we can continue to empower & help improve the lives of more and more people.
The event according to the Girl’s Night Out by Shawn Yancy website is the “ultimate party for a cause”! 300 plus men and women from the hill to the c-suite, fashion insiders, tastemakers, power players and movers and shakers from the diverse Washington, DC community gather for an interactive experience that engages & stimulates the senses; while raising money for organizations that promote the well being of women, children and families.
