Classic American Grilled Cheese



In less than 20 minutes you can have a superior Grilled Cheese Sandwich.  This takes 10 minutes to cook and 10 minutes  to prepare. It makes 4 sandwiches. Grilled cheese sandwiches are an all time American favorite. You can pair it with a soup or chips or just eat it alone. If you want to be creative with this recipe, you can use cookie cutters and make festive shapes.

Special equipment: star shaped cookie cutters in descending sizes

Preheat the griddle to medium heat.

Build the sandwiches with 1 slice of white cheese on 4 pieces of bread and 1 slice of yellow cheese on the other 4 slices of bread. Close the sandwiches and butter both sides. Place on the griddle; cover with a metal bowl and let the sandwiches get a nice golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Flip, cover again and cook until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes.
